Obuasi SHTS headmaster claims rape accuser is in her 20s and a mother

Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) Headmaster Zakaria Abdulai has stated in an interview that the female student accusing him of rape is between 20 and 21 years old and has a child. The headmaster, who remains suspended, made the claim during a conversation with radio host Blakk Rasta. Abdulai is awaiting court proceedings, having been granted self-recognisance bail following a complaint by the accuser and her parents.

He maintains that he has his own account of the events and that the committee investigating the matter heard both his testimony and that of the accuser and her family. The accuser reported the alleged rape to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) on August 4, 2026, claiming the incident occurred on July 25, 2026.

According to the police, Abdulai allegedly lured the student into his residence on campus for an errand and then sexually assaulted her, offering her GH¢100 to remain silent. However, these allegations have not been established in court, and other complaints involving female students had been reported to school and education authorities prior to Abdulai's suspension.
