Abu Dhabi's tech-enabled healthcare company, M42, has unveiled Ossi, an AI platform aimed at assisting doctors with administrative tasks and allowing them more time with patients. The platform, unveiled at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit, will be accessible at seven M42 centers in the UAE and Bahrain. According to Kareem Shahin, M42's chief executive of Digital Health Solutions Platform and group chief digital officer, Ossi, developed in collaboration with Microsoft, harnesses AI agents, voice recognition, and healthcare-focused large language models to support physicians before, during, and after consultations.
Before a patient arrives, the Patient Summary Agent provides a summary of the patient's medical history and details, enabling doctors to focus more on the patient during the consultation. Throughout the appointment, the Scribing Agent transcribes the consultation and generates a structured clinical note for the physician to review.
The Chat Agent allows physicians to ask questions about the patient's medical information and receive evidence-based recommendations. Lastly, the Coding Agent assists in analyzing clinical documentation and suggesting appropriate medical codes, streamlining the physicians' coding workflow.
Ossi is designed to complement existing electronic medical records (EMR) systems, rather than replace them, ensuring that the physician remains at the center of clinical decision-making. The platform is cloud-based and hosted on Microsoft Azure, with plans to expand globally. Ossi, named after the ossicle bones in the human ear, can understand Arabic and English and is being developed to accommodate other languages like Greek.
This AI-assisted solution aims to help doctors save time during consultations and reduce the time spent reviewing medical records, ultimately improving patient care.
