Five men have been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Kano for alleged involvement in drug trafficking, according to prosecutors. The defendants - Onyeka Vincent and Okwundili Ibeabuchi, Chinedu Peter, Success Chigozie, and Emmanuel Jude - are accused of transporting a total of 36.7kg of diazepam, psychotropic substances, Rohypnol, tramadol, cannabis sativa, cough syrup with codeine, and methamphetamine from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Kano without proper authority.

The charges, which include 25 counts of drug trafficking and related offences under the NDLEA Act, carry a potential penalty of imprisonment. All five defendants entered a plea of not guilty during the arraignment. The prosecution, represented by Aminu Umar and Raliya Abdulaziz, sought the defendants' remand in a correctional facility pending trial.

Their defense attorney, Abdulmalik Muhammad, requested a brief adjournment to file bail applications. Justice S.M. Shuaibu granted the remand and set the case for further hearing on November 3.
