Teradyne Robotics partners with Sereact for AI automation

Berlin - Teradyne Robotics and Sereact have formed a partnership to introduce AI-driven robotic systems for sectors like retail, logistics, and manufacturing, as outlined in a press release. The alliance merges Sereact's physical AI platform, named Cortex, with Universal Robots' collaborative robots, a brand under the Teradyne Robotics umbrella.

Hundreds of dual-arm robot systems have already been deployed to customer locations throughout Europe. These systems are currently autonomously managing the processing of returned fashion items at Zalando's fulfillment centers located in Greven, Germany, and Świebodzin, Poland. This marks the initial stage of a broader plan to extend returns automation across Europe, with aspirations for expansion into the United States.

Jacob Pascual Pape, Chief Commercial Officer of Teradyne Robotics, highlighted the significance of physical AI in practical applications, noting Universal Robots' long-standing expertise in this area. The technology demonstrated at NVIDIA’s GTC Berlin conference showcased Cortex's ability to manage mixed goods, unfamiliar items, and varied packaging across tasks such as returns handling, store replenishment, piece-picking, sortation, machine tending, and kitting.

Sereact's Cortex operates on a single model that does not require retraining for new items or tasks. The company recently established a U.S. headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, to cater to North American markets. During the conference, Sereact and Universal Robots demonstrated the technology at a live logistics center in collaboration with CEVA Logistics for Zalando.

Cortex utilizes NVIDIA Isaac Sim for training and runs on NVIDIA Jetson Thor for deployment and NVIDIA DGX Spark for site-level operations. Sereact secured $116 million in Series B funding in 2026. Among its clientele are Zalando, IKEA, DHL, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Daimler Truck. Teradyne Robotics operates as a division of Teradyne, Inc. (NASDAQ:TER).
