The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) has launched its AI Factory Accelerator Programme, providing startups with sovereign compute, technical assistance, and training to foster innovation across various sectors. Many of these companies are also part of the NVIDIA Inception program for pioneering startups. As of now, some BSC AI Factory services are accessible via the NVIDIA Inception portal, complementing the BSC AI Factory Accelerator Programme with additional resources such as NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute courses, business mentoring, and venture capital connections.
An expansion of MareNostrum 5, BSC's public infrastructure for scientific and technological advancements, will soon provide supercomputing access through the BSC AI Factory and other AI Factories across Europe. BSC AI Factory, Europe's first AI factory and the first in Spain, has already delivered over 800 services to clients in the private and public sectors since its April 2025 launch.
Three NVIDIA Inception members were recognized as AI Champions at the pilot initiative's demo day: Qatium, OneCareAI, and Avatia. Qatium's water-network platform, already utilized by over 250 utilities in 16 countries, leverages Neural Water Intelligence technology powered by proprietary AI models trained on MareNostrum 5, NVIDIA cuGraph library, NVIDIA PhysicsNeMo framework, and NVIDIA Nemotron open models.
OneCareAI, a research spin-off from BSC, developed technology to identify signs of hidden atrial fibrillation in seemingly normal ECGs using NVIDIA NIM microservices, NVIDIA Nemotron 3 open models, and NVIDIA NeMo Curator library, aiding clinicians in early stroke risk identification. Avatia created a voice-first, multi-agent system for pharmaceutical companies, providing agentic coworkers that support sales representatives and offer doctors transparent, curated information about medicines, ultimately ensuring the right treatment reaches the right patient sooner.
Other BSC AI Factory startups span precision agriculture, medical imaging, knowledge access, speech services, enterprise security, and sustainable packaging, showcasing the potential of advanced intelligence to revolutionize industries.
