The Sindh cabinet has decided to make the report prepared by a judicial commission investigating the murder of businessman Mir Raza Ali public. The report, which was presented in seven sealed envelopes, will be uploaded on the provincial home department's website and a copy will be provided to the aggrieved family. A four-member sub-committee, chaired by Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, has been constituted to ensure the implementation of the report.
The commission, headed by Justice Omar Sial of the Sindh High Court, had examined 49 witnesses during 15 hearings and handed over the sealed report to the provincial government last week. The decision to make the report public comes after the commission struggled to meet its deadline and requested an extension until October 15. The businessman, who was 25 years old, went missing on July 28 and his body with gunshot wounds was found a day later in a Gulistan-i-Jauhar locality.
Initially, the police had built the case around suicide, but police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed had disputed the findings of the first post-mortem conducted by medico-legal officer Dr Osama Sheikh.
