Google Cloud outage: Revolut down as multiple services experience issues

LONDON, Oct 20 - Multiple Google Cloud services are currently experiencing serious network disruptions in their European data centre located in London, as reported by the company's service health website. British digital bank Revolut has reported disruptions to multiple services, a source close to the situation attributing the issue to the Google Cloud outage.

Google's service update stated that "multiple Google Cloud services are experiencing elevated errors and intermittent network failures in europe-west2 region," which pertains to their London data centre. Internet service tracker Downdetector logged hundreds of reports of problems affecting UK financial institutions such as Lloyds bank and HSBC, along with property website Rightmove and postal service Royal Mail.

Google announced that the incident commenced at 06:08 GMT today. A spokesperson for Revolut confirmed that they are actively working to rectify the issue and expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused. They reassured customers that their funds and data remain secure. Google's website noted that their "engineering team continues to investigate the issue" but provided no specific reason for the disruption.
