The disciplinary council upheld the charge against the 41-year-old forward on Monday, citing disagreements over his role in the team. The dispute arose after Portugal’s match against Norway, during which Ronaldo sat on the bench.

He accused head coach Jorge Jesus of breaking promises about his playing time, while Jesus denied making any such agreement. Ronaldo's departure followed Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway. The federation's disciplinary council found Ronaldo guilty of intentionally violating Article 160(1) of its disciplinary regulations. It remains unclear which matches or activities the suspension covers, or whether time already served under a provisional suspension counts toward the 30-day ban.
