Babysitter detained after 10-month-old baby boy dies in her care in Tasek Gelugor

TASEK GELUGOR, October 20 — Police have apprehended a babysitter in connection with the death of a 10-month-old infant who allegedly passed away while under the woman's supervision yesterday. Seberang Perai Utara district police chief ACP Anuar Abdul Rahman disclosed that the individual was placed under detention following the incident and the case is currently under investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

"The investigation is ongoing, and we are awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of the baby's demise," he stated in a statement last night. It is believed that the baby's mother entrusted him to the babysitter early in the morning. The 25-year-old caretaker reportedly discovered the infant to be weak and lethargic around 9:50 am and promptly took him to a nearby clinic.

However, the baby is suspected to have succumbed to his injuries before reaching the medical facility. Preliminary physical examinations of the infant's body did not reveal any visible signs of trauma.
