Carney expressed his delight that Albertans had chosen unity, emphasizing their commitment to building together and supporting each other's well-being.

He discussed the referendum results with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith over the phone, with the initial focus of their conversation being the ongoing fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright and providing assistance to those affected. Prime Minister Carney emphasized the need for the nation to shift its attention to issues of affordability, safety, and immigration, as highlighted by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.

Poilievre, representing the Alberta riding of Battle River-Crowfoot, echoed Carney's sentiments, stating that Albertans had chosen to build a stronger Alberta within a united Canada, highlighting the promise of Canada as a cause worth fighting for. He added that the nation's focus should now be on addressing practical concerns such as affordable food and homes, safe streets, strong borders, and maintaining a controlled level of immigration.
