CLEVELAND (AP) — Yandy Díaz has led the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-1 lead in the AL Championship Series with three hits, including a double, in Sunday's 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. Díaz has maintained a postseason average of .314, hitting four doubles, a home run, and posting a .847 OPS as the Rays' leadoff hitter in seven of his eight postseason games.
Rays closer Bryan Baker praised Díaz's work at the plate, noting that when he gets going, "we’re a different team with the way he works at-bats." Game 6 is scheduled for Monday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, with a potential Game 7 on Tuesday if needed. The Rays, currently 58-27 during the regular season and playoffs, are seeking their first World Series trip since 2020.
