Rivers Assembly recalls three suspended pro-Fubara lawmakers

The Rivers State House of Assembly has reinstated three pro-Governor Siminalayi Fubara lawmakers after initially declaring their seats vacant due to political differences. The suspension of Victor Oko-Jumbo, Sokari Goodboy Sokari, and Timothy Oruibienimigha was lifted during a plenary session on Monday following appeals from the lawmakers, who had been suspended in October 2023.

The decision was made after the lawmakers submitted letters of appeal to the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, expressing their apologies and citing confusion over the lifting of their suspension in December 2023. The House voted to rescind its earlier decision, and the three lawmakers were urged to return to their seats and resume participation in Assembly proceedings.
