Mastercard and BankIslami Join Forces to Strengthen the Digital Payments Ecosystem in Pakistan

Mastercard and BankIslami have joined forces to enhance Pakistan's digital payments infrastructure. The partnership aims to broaden BankIslami's range of consumer and commercial card products, catering to individuals, micro, small & medium-sized enterprises, and commercial clients. The collaboration includes a priority banking program with Mastercard World cards, as well as Mastercard World Elite cards for high-net-worth customers.

BankIslami will also expand its Shariah-compliant credit card program to serve both mass-market and affluent customers, as well as its debit card services and Business Payment Controls to help businesses manage payments and optimize supply chain processes.

Arslan Khan, Mastercard's country manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan, stated that the collaboration will bolster payment options for consumers and small businesses in Pakistan, supporting BankIslami's Shariah-compliant card offerings and fueling the growth of digital commerce. Imran H Shaikh, BankIslami's President & Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that the partnership will make Islamic banking an attractive choice for customers by merging Shariah-compliant solutions with the conveniences of modern digital banking.
