Lucknow: The Yogi government has doubled the scholarship seats available through the Mukhyamantri Krishak Chhatravritti Yojana, providing financial support to more meritorious students from farming families. This expansion will enable 2,820 talented young individuals to pursue education in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, and animal husbandry.
The monthly scholarship amount has also been increased from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000, resulting in an annual financial aid of Rs. 60,000 per student. This initiative aims to empower children of farmers and agricultural laborers, who often face challenges in pursuing higher education due to financial constraints. The expanded scheme will be implemented at 11 agricultural universities, 61 agricultural colleges, and 1,410 scholarship seats at the undergraduate level, now increased to 2,820.
Students must secure a minimum of 70% marks in Intermediate exams, depending on their board of education, and 85% at the postgraduate level. Mandi Council Director Jitendra Pratap Singh highlighted that this expansion aligns with the Yogi government's commitment to promoting agriculture-based knowledge and innovation among the youth of Uttar Pradesh.
