Kuala Berang, October 18 - The police have apprehended a 23-year-old local woman in connection with the discovery of a baby's body in a drain at the Padang Setengge residential area. Supt Sharudin Abdul Wahab, the Hulu Terengganu police chief, stated that the arrest was made on Friday afternoon to assist in the investigation under Section 318 of the Penal Code.

The suspect was taken into custody at her residence at 3:30pm. According to the police, the post-mortem examination conducted by a pathologist from the Forensic Department of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital revealed that the baby was full-term and had passed away more than 24 hours prior to the examination. The sex of the baby also remains unknown. The woman reportedly discovered the body while washing clothes behind her house in the residential area.
