Travis Hunter Makes NFL History With Rare Feat in Jaguars' Loss to Texans

On Sunday, Travis Hunter made NFL history by achieving a rare feat of recording both an interception and a receiving touchdown in the same game. This remarkable accomplishment had not been seen in an NFL game for 24 years. The Jacksonville Jaguars, who drafted the versatile Heisman Trophy winner in last year's draft, witnessed this extraordinary feat during their second London game against the Houston Texans.

Hunter's performance showcased his rare two-way abilities as he contributed significantly to the Jaguars' game. In the fourth quarter, quarterback Trevor Lawrence connected with Hunter in the end zone for a seven-yard touchdown, pulling Jacksonville within three points of the lead. Later on, Hunter switched to defense, playing cornerback and intercepting a pass thrown by Texans' quarterback CJ Stroud during their drive.

With this double-digit performance, Hunter became the first player to accomplish such a feat in 24 years. The last player to achieve this remarkable feat was Brian Dawkins, a Super Bowl winner and Hall of Famer, who did so while playing for the Eagles 24 years ago. Prior to that, Roy Green accomplished this feat in 1981 for the St. Louis Cardinals, now known as the Arizona Cardinals.

The Jaguars' victory came at the cost of the Texans, who had previously struggled and have now won two straight games. While the Jaguars lost the game 34-31, Hunter's performance provided compelling evidence of his potential to make a significant impact on both sides of the ball. Despite initial questions about his usage on both sides of the ball, Hunter's recent performance highlighted his ability to contribute meaningfully in both offensive and defensive roles.
