A record-breaking 1,600 students participated in this year's Russian Classical Ballet Examination held in Sri Lanka. The examination, which took place in Colombo from October 5th to 18th and in Galle on October 10th, saw students aged four and above from various cities across the island. These students, taught by 15 dedicated instructors trained in the Vaganova method, were examined by Dr. Oxana Karnovich from the Moscow State Academy of Choreography.

The Russian School of Ballet and Dancing, established in 2001 by Michael Ustinov, Buddhapriya Ramanayake, and Mrs. Chandi Aluvihare, is now led by Director Madam Maria Popova, a Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sri Lanka.
