PRN Melaka: Undi18, daftar pemilih automatik cabaran bagi BN, kata Ab Rauf

The upcoming Malaysian general election, PRN Melaka, poses several challenges for the Barisan Nasional (BN) party, according to Ketua Menteri Ab Rauf Yusoh. Scheduled for November 14, the election will see the introduction of undi18, allowing 18-year-olds to participate in the voting process, as well as automatic registration of eligible voters, including those aged 60 who have never voted before.

Ab Rauf expressed concern over the lack of knowledge about these new voters and their origins, as the party's traditional methods of managing voter lists may no longer be effective. He emphasized that the party needs to strengthen its strategies to gauge support among the newer voter demographic and avoid losing parliamentary seats in Alor Gajah.

Although BN performed well in the 2021 PRN Melaka, their victory was not sustained in the 2015 general election when they lost six parliamentary seats to Pakatan Harapan and two to Perikatan Nasional. The Election Commission (SPR) previously set the election date for PRN Melaka as November 14, with the nomination of candidates on October 31 and the first round of voting on November 10.
