My first post as an indie gamedev
Hello, this is my first post on Dev.to!! I have been suggested by my relative to start blogging about my coding journey on this website since 2022 but I always find it quite corny to write about your coding journeys publicly like how it is in LinkedIn; it is sad to see the state of LinkedIn nowadays. But anyway, a little introduction about myself - My name is Yuvraj Kumpavat Game developer by…
I recently began posting on Dev.to, my first foray into blogging. I was advised by a family member to start documenting my coding journey on this platform since 2022; however, I found the idea of publicly sharing one's coding experiences, similar to the trends on LinkedIn, rather tiresome. Despite this, I decided to share a brief introduction about myself.
My name is Yuvraj Kumpavat, and I am a game developer by profession. My skill set includes expertise in Unreal Engine, Unity, C++, C#, HLSL, Clip Studio Paint, Git/GitHub, and various Integrated Development Environments (IDEs).
The primary goal behind starting this blog is to chronicle my journey in creating my own game, a project that has been a labor of love for many years. I find the process challenging at times, often struggling with self-accountability even when I've set deadlines for myself. I am barely getting by on sleep, yet I remain committed to this endeavor. I have numerous responsibilities, primarily focusing on developing this grand project, yet despite these hurdles, the process of creating this game has proven to be enjoyable.
This is just the beginning of my journey. I recently conceived the idea for a turn-based combat system for a JRPG, and I am currently working on translating this concept into my own specifications, rules, and datasets. I owe a debt of gratitude to my past self from the second year of my journey, who managed to preserve a JRPG framework and taught me about it.
I am developing a game akin to Octopath Traveler, a title which combines 2D graphics in a 3D environment, a concept known as Hybrid 2D or HD2D, a technique popularized by Square Enix.
In conclusion, I would like to end this blog post on a positive note. Good things take time, and they require patience, discipline, and determination to bring them to fruition.
