Mohanlal’s birthday twin and Mammootty’s heroine, Chitra died with unfulfilled dreams

Chitra, the birthday twin of renowned Malayalam actor Mammootty, had a successful career in Malayalam cinema despite her untimely death in 2021 at the age of 38. Born in Kochi as Sruthi Chitra, she lost her mother at a young age and moved to Chennai due to her father's job. Chitra, a noted actress, made her film debut in the adult role of Aattakalasam alongside Mohanlal, who was her birthday twin.

She went on to act in numerous films across various languages, but her journey was marred by personal struggles, particularly due to her father's strict and overprotective nature. Chitra's dreams of winning the State Award for Best Actress and working with director Fazil remained unfulfilled, as she died in 2021 due to a cardiac arrest, having been denied the State Award and without having collaborated with Fazil.
