Martinez 'back in a few weeks' after operation
Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez says he will be fit in a few weeks after being injured in the win at Everton.
Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez underwent an operation on Sunday following a head collision with Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite during Saturday's 2-0 Premier League win at Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium. The 34-year-old Argentine player was stretchered off after eight minutes of medical treatment. Martinez, who also suffered a concussion, posted on social media expressing gratitude for the support and announcing that the operation went well.
He assured fans that he will be fit and back in action in a few weeks. Manager Xabi Alonso praised Martinez's resilience, highlighting his bravery and the team's collective trust in him. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Mike Penders, who came on as a substitute for Martinez, is likely to feature in the next three Premier League matches against Tottenham, Manchester United, and Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
