Happy Death Day star Jessica Rothe gives an update on a third movie and talks about being a scream queen
Jessica Rothe has officially confirmed that there are plans in the works for a third installment of the hit time-loop thriller, Happy Death Day. Speaking at New York Comic Con, Rothe revealed that she and director Christopher Landon recently broke down the third film, expressing excitement about bringing Tree's story to a satisfying conclusion.
Rothe also discussed her newfound status as a "scream queen," admitting that she initially found the title surprising given her fear of horror films. Despite her squeamishness, Rothe finds pride in the genre's empowering themes and the strong female characters that often emerge in such stories. She praised the upcoming film, River, for featuring two scream queens on screen together, highlighting the genre's evolution and the importance of representation in horror.
When asked about her favorite horror movie, Rothe confidently named Jamie Lee Curtis's performance, emphasizing its lasting impact and the film's ability to blend suspense with poignant emotional depth.
