In contrast to Michael Che, SNL UK's Weekend Update has lots to say about Shane Gillis
Weekend Update co-anchor Ania Magliano addressed both Shane Gillis' misogynistic monologue and his accidental f-bomb.
SNL UK's Ania Magliano took aim at Shane Gillis during their Weekend Update segment, contrasting sharply with Michael Che's response in the U.S. version. While Che maintained a diplomatic stance regarding Gillis' use of misogynistic language, Magliano delivered a series of pointed jokes directly at Gillis for his comments about women wearing shorts.
She humorously pointed out that while bikinis could protect women from upskirt photos, they also left them vulnerable to worse harassment. Magliano's cheeky camera angle elicited laughs from the English studio audience. She further criticized Gillis for his use of profanity during a Dr. Seuss sketch and called him a "stupid fucking cunt."
Meanwhile, Che defended SNL's decision to book Gillis, stating that it's comedy and some people don't find it funny. Magliano clearly favored the latter viewpoint.
