Georgia’s Kirby Smart reveals Gunner Stockton’s defiant reaction to blowing Auburn game

In a shocking turn of events, Georgia’s quarterback Gunner Stockton displayed a defiant reaction after Georgia suffered a 27-24 defeat to unranked Auburn, despite the Bulldogs being considered the top-ranked team in college football. The loss, which came at Auburn’s home turf in Athens, highlighted Georgia’s struggles on offense, as turnovers turned out to be the crucial factor that sealed the Tigers’ victory.

Stockton’s two interceptions and a fumble in the fourth quarter were instrumental in giving Auburn the winning field goal.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart revealed Stockton’s demeanor in the locker room following the game, praising his quarterback for his resilience. Smart noted that Georgia wouldn’t have been in the position they were in if it weren’t for Stockton’s performance, expressing pride in his young player's growth. However, Stockton’s carelessness with the football on Saturday was surprising, given his consistent success throughout the season.

Auburn’s defense has been subpar this season, which made Georgia’s offensive issues even more surprising.

Despite this unexpected loss, Georgia remains highly ranked and still has numerous goals to achieve this season. With no unbeaten teams left in the SEC, a conference title is still within reach for Smart and his team. Georgia will have a bye week in Week 8 and will face a crucial rivalry game against Florida in Week 9, where Stockton will be determined to regain his footing.
