Five options for Daniel Dubois after crushing knockout of Fabio Wardley

Daniel Dubois cemented his hold on the WBO heavyweight title with a swift knockout of Fabio Wardley at London's O2 Arena. The 29-year-old champion dropped Wardley within 17 seconds of the fight's start, and despite the challenger managing to beat the count earlier, Dubois continued his relentless assault until the referee stopped the contest.

Dubois, never one for lengthy speeches, emphasized that he had set his sights on victory from the outset of their rematch. He celebrated his first professional defeat of Wardley, who was previously unbeaten, as he had dispatched the fighter in the 11th round of a fierce clash last May.

Following the victory, Dubois outlined his thoughts on the bout, noting that he had always sought to compete with the toughest and most formidable opponents. Wardley, who had entered the ring with a courageous spirit, now finds himself with a 20-2-1 record following the loss.

Dubois has outlined five potential opponents for his next bout:

1. Filip Hrgovic, who currently holds the IBF title, defeated Dubois in 2024. Hrgovic has expressed his desire for a rematch.

2. Agit Kabayel, who holds the WBC title, is set to face Nelson Hysa next month. A unification bout against Kabayel seems a logical next step.

3. The outcome of a December bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury could see the winner face Dubois next.

4. Cuban fighter Frank Sanchez, should he defeat Hrgovic, could be lined up to challenge Dubois.

5. Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, who has previously defeated Dubois twice, presents another possible challenger for the WBO heavyweight title.
