In Lagos State, Adefolaseye Adebayo, the candidate for Surulere I Federal Constituency under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has alleged a plot to prevent her party from contesting the upcoming 2027 general elections. On her X handle, she stated that certain individuals were attempting to ensure the NDC was not on the ballot for the Surulere I Federal Constituency. Adebayo called for the INEC chairman to take note of this alleged conspiracy.
She claimed a similar situation occurred in the 2023 Surulere I House of Representatives election when the Labour Party was barred from appearing on the ballot. Adebayo accused the Labour Party's candidate at the time of colluding with those allegedly responsible for the exclusion, but she noted that no consequences followed this action.
