Zverev stunned by Davidovich Fokina in Shanghai semi-finals

In the Shanghai Masters semi-finals, a strong showing from Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (26th) sent top seed Alexander Zverev (world number one) sprawling in a three-set thriller. Fokina, the 27-year-old Spaniard, overcame a shaky start to claim victory 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 and will face either Daniil Medvedev or Rafael Jodar in the final on Sunday.

Fokina's relentless pressure paid off as he stormed to a 3-0 lead in the deciding set, taking advantage of the German's physical struggles. Despite Zverev's ability to convert crucial break points and reach the final he last won in 2019, Davidovich Fokina's grit, lightning-fast returns, and graceful drop shots ultimately proved too much to overcome.
