Trump’s press secretary, Katie Zacharia exits after five days

Katie Zacharia's brief tenure as White House press secretary has concluded after only five days, following scrutiny over her qualifications and criticism of her initial interaction with reporters. Although the White House described her exit as a transition, President Donald Trump confirmed a conversation with Zacharia about her future, suggesting she might decline the high-profile role.

During a campaign stop in Georgia, Trump expressed concerns about the intense media treatment Zacharia faced, stating that he made it clear to her that she was free to leave if she wished. Zacharia's appointment followed Karoline Leavitt's departure in August, and she took office on October 12. Her first press briefing lasted less than 15 minutes, drawing criticism for its brevity and her reliance on notes.

However, questions also arose regarding her legal credentials, as she was introduced as an attorney despite not having passed the US bar exam. Upon questioning, she admitted to never passing the bar but claimed she possessed relevant qualifications. Despite receiving no US bar registration records, Zacharia graduated from Pepperdine University's law school in 2011 and worked at a Beijing-based law firm before transitioning to communications roles, including a position at Trump Media & Technology Group.

The White House has yet to provide a detailed public explanation for Zacharia's departure as the administration prepares for the critical midterm elections.
