The Peshawar Public Library will now remain open until midnight, providing students and citizens with extended hours for reading and studying. This decision was made following directives from the Education Advisory Council member, Dr. Syed Aamir Abdullah. Under the new arrangement, the library will operate in three shifts. The trial of the extended hours began as a pilot project at the Peshawar Public Library.
If successful, the library could potentially expand the hours to other public libraries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which currently has 16 public libraries. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance access to reading and study facilities, especially for students preparing for exams and individuals seeking a quiet space for independent study outside of regular daytime hours.
The Director of Archives and Libraries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued an official notification concerning the revised timings and instructed relevant officers and staff to adhere strictly to the guidelines.
