Newcastle, following Juventus and Roma, are now vying for the signature of Sporting midfielder Issa Doumbia. The 23-year-old player, who previously spent just €1m with Venezia, has since made a remarkable ascent in his career. Doumbia scored eight goals and delivered six assists as Venezia secured promotion to Serie A last season.
Sporting subsequently acquired him for a staggering €20m plus €6m in add-ons, securing a contract until 2031 with an €80m release clause triggering next July. Italian giants Milan and Napoli have already passed on Doumbia, leaving the spotlight on Newcastle, Roma, and Juventus as his primary pursuers.
