Mark Wahlberg wants to take on the longevity-startup crowd with an affordable gym concept
Mark Wahlberg, who once sank money into a gym chain that got kicked off the NYSE, is now building his own, and he promises you’ll get a cold plunge, a blood panel and a protein muffin without needing a trust fund.
Mark Wahlberg has opened a new gym concept called Municipal Gym, set to debut in December in a 32,000 square foot facility outside Las Vegas. The gym offers a wide range of wellness services including blood work, epigenetic testing, recovery gear, compression therapy, cold plunges and a café specializing in protein muffins. Wahlberg claims the gym is an affordable alternative to expensive longevity clubs, which charge tens of thousands of dollars annually for similar services.
This is part of Wahlberg's larger plan to create a health and wellness ecosystem, a concept he first conceived seven years ago when he launched a sportswear line called Municipal, initially spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic. Wahlberg's venture capital background in fitness brands like F45, which he invested in during its $450 million valuation, was cited by the reporter as a learning experience.
The Municipal Gym aims to attract a luxury segment of the market, offering a more affordable price point than competitors while providing superior results.
