KPDN siasat aduan petrol campur air di Selangor

The Sports and Living Cost Ministry (KPDN) Selangor has received 10 official complaints alleging that RON95 petrol has been mixed with water, causing damage to vehicles in several regions. Muhamad Hanif Asa’ari, the KPDN Selangor chairman, stated that his team conducted field investigations and enforcement actions at seven oil station premises on the same day.

"A total of 27 petrol RON95 samples were collected from the fuel dispensers of the affected stations and sent to the Chemical Department of Malaysia for laboratory analysis," he said in a Bernama news release. Hanif revealed that all relevant premises had the necessary Certificates of Fitness (CSA) and licenses under the Petroleum Development Act 1974 (PDA).

KPDN also issued notices under Section 32 of the Trade Practices Act 2011 to request information and documents from oil station owners to assist with the investigation. "The investigation is being conducted in relation to potential breaches of Section 5(1)(c), read in conjunction with Section 6(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Trade Practices Act 2011, concerning false trading allegations related to the content of supplied petrol," he added.

Hanif warned all oil companies and station owners to ensure that underground storage tanks are regularly maintained and adhere to the established safety and quality standards. He also advised affected users to keep official records of fuel refilling and inspection reports as supporting documentation for complaints and to aid the investigation.
