A recently circulated video from Ernakulam, Kerala, has drawn alarm after depicting four young individuals using a live Indian rock python to engage in a playful game reminiscent of jump rope. The Instagram page Street Dog of Bombay posted the footage, prompting swift concern over the treatment of wildlife for entertainment purposes.
In the video, two teenagers are captured swinging the python, while a third participant appears to jump over the snake, seemingly treating it as a rope. The post sparked backlash, with the Instagram page strongly opposing the use of wild animals as toys or for amusement. They emphasized the animals' right to safety and urged the Kerala Forest Department to investigate the incident and enforce legal measures.
The page also called for increased education among youth about the importance of respecting wildlife and fostering harmonious coexistence with animals, rather than exploiting them for entertainment. The case underscores the urgent need for responsible wildlife handling and protection measures to prevent potential harm to animals.
