New Delhi: Delhi Capitals have appointed former Sri Lanka fast-bowling star Chaminda Vaas as their new fast-bowling coach, replacing Munaf Patel ahead of the upcoming IPL season. Vaas, a World Cup winner and Sri Lanka's most successful bowler with 355 wickets in 111 Tests and 400 ODIs, joins a revamped support staff led by head coach Sourav Ganguly.
The franchise, jointly owned by the GMR Group and JSW Group, is still searching for its first IPL title, having only reached the final once in 2020. Vaas, known for his ability to swing the new ball and maintain accuracy across conditions, previously served as Sri Lanka's bowling coach in three stints and played for the Deccan Chargers in the IPL from 2008 to 2010.
