Couple on scooter crushed between trucks on NH 66 in Malappuram

A young couple named Afzal and Sabira lost their lives in a tragic road accident on National Highway 66 near Vattapara, Valanchery, on Friday night (October 16, 2026). The couple hailing from Perassannur, Kuttippuram, were riding a scooter en route to Valanchery from Kottakkal.

As the scooter passed by, a truck traveling in the opposite direction veered out of control, striking the scooter. The impact pushed the scooter into the rear of another truck that was ahead. The first truck then collided with the second truck, resulting in the couple being trapped between the two vehicles. Sadly, both Afzal and Sabira succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Tragically, the driver of the truck that initially hit the scooter, Kashinath from Karnataka, sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Valanchery.
