Cadangan tukar Hamzah sekadar provokasi, kata penganalisis

PAS candidate Hamzah Zainudin, who currently serves as the leader of the opposition, has faced criticism for not proposing new proposals or arguments during the 2027 budget discussion, according to Puad Zarkashi, a former Penang state assemblyman. Syaza Shukri, a political analyst from Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), believes that the decision to replace Hamzah without prior agreement could create perceptions of unity crisis among opposition leaders.

Puad, a candidate of the Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan), argued that Hamzah failed to present new proposals or ideas during the discussion. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, the vice president of PAS and president of PN, took over the role temporarily before Hamzah returned to the position in June. Tawfik Yaakub, a political analyst from the University of Malaya, stated that PAS has the basis to demand the position due to its largest number of parliamentary seats in the opposition bloc.

However, he emphasized that the decision to retain Hamzah also takes into account the continuity of leadership and relationships between PAS, Wawasan, and other opposition parties. Criticism of Hamzah's performance during the 2027 budget discussion debate should be evaluated based on the strength of arguments, alternative proposals, and the ability to balance, rather than solely based on individual or party positions.
