Cadangan tukar Hamzah sekadar provokasi, kata penganalisis

Analysts say PAS's proposal to replace Hamzah Zainudin as the leader of the opposition is merely provocative, given his effective performance. Syaza Shukri, a professor at the Islamic University of Malaysia, argued that there is no need for a replacement as PAS has more MPs in the opposition bloc. However, Puad Zarkashi, a former Penang MP and PAS presidential candidate, claimed that Hamzah failed to present new proposals or foundations during the 2027 budget discussion.

Hamzah was appointed as the opposition leader in December 2022 and stepped down between April and June 2023 after being expelled from Bersatu. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, the deputy president of PAS and president of PN, temporarily took over the role until Hamzah's return in June. Tawfik Yaakub, a professor from the University of Malaya, stated that PAS has the right to claim the opposition leader position due to its largest parliamentary representation in the opposition bloc.

However, he also acknowledged the importance of maintaining continuity of leadership and relationships among PAS, Wawasan, and other opposition parties. Puad's criticism of Hamzah's performance during the 2027 budget discussion should be evaluated based on its strength of argument, alternative proposals, and ability to balance the budget, rather than just his individual or party's standing.
