Bastrop vs Pflugerville live updates: Bears host Panthers in critical district matchup
Bastrop and Pflugerville meet in Memorial Stadium Friday night for a high school football game with potential ramifications on the final district standings.
The Bastrop Bears will face off against the Pflugerville Panthers in a crucial District 11-5A Division 2 matchup at Memorial Stadium on Friday night. This game holds significant importance for the final district standings. Bastrop's starting quarterback, Weston Nielsen, returned from injury last week and had a standout performance, throwing for 322 yards and seven touchdowns in a 70-0 victory.
Nielsen, an Arizona State commit, led Bastrop to the third round of the UIL Class 5A Division II playoffs in 2025, amassing 3,053 yards, 44 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Wide receiver Dallas Crescenzo, a Tulane commit, is a key player for Bastrop and should be on the Panthers' defensive radar. On the other side, Pflugerville comes into the game following a dominant 62-7 win over Elgin.
Quarterback Caleb Gaston, a dual threat averaging 236.8 passing yards and 53.2 rushing yards per game, will lead the Panthers. Wide receiver Tyrone McGill has been a standout performer for Pflugerville, compiling 610 yards and seven touchdowns on 33 receptions. Live updates will be provided as the game unfolds.
