‘Vote like Canada depends on it’: Carney tells Alberta referendum rally
Carney spoke at a Forever Canadian rally ahead of Monday's referendum on the whether the province should stay in Confederation or hold a second, binding referendum on separation.
Prime Minister Mark Carney delivered a passionate speech at a rally in Calgary, urging Albertans to vote in favor of remaining part of Canada during an upcoming referendum. Carney highlighted the potential for "deep division and great uncertainty" if the province were to separate, stating that the current global climate is more dangerous and divided, and that some outside forces may attempt to exploit this instability.
He encouraged the crowd, which numbered at least 5,000, to embrace Canada's spirit of co-operative federalism and not to fall for the dangerous bluff of leaving Canada. Carney urged Albertans to vote for Confederation on Monday, emphasizing that turnout would determine the outcome of the referendum.
