Toronto hosts New York after Marchenko's hat trick
New York Islanders (3-3-1, in the Metropolitan Division) vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (3-3-2, in the Atlantic Division)Toronto; Saturday, 7 p.
In a recent matchup, the Toronto Maple Leafs faced off against the New York Islanders. The Maple Leafs, currently 3-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in home games, defeated the Islanders 5-4 in overtime. However, it was Kirill Marchenko's hat trick that caught the eye as he scored all three goals for the Maple Leafs in their 5-4 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres earlier in the week.
New York, on the other hand, is 0-2-1 in road games and 3-3-1 overall. They have conceded 16 goals and scored 20, giving them a +4 scoring differential. The Maple Leafs, despite conceding 27 goals and scoring 28, have a +1 scoring differential.
This was the second time these teams have met this season, with the Maple Leafs emerging victorious in the previous encounter with a 2-1 win. Toronto will look to carry their offensive momentum into this game, aiming to further close the gap on their rivals in the Metropolitan Division.
