Three Dnipropetrovsk region police officers suspected of armed robbery – Prosecutor General's Office

Three police officers from the Dnipropetrovsk region are under investigation for armed robbery, as reported by the Prosecutor General's Office. The suspects include a deputy head of a police department, a deputy head of the drug-related crime combating department within the Main Directorate of the National Police, and an operative of the latter department. The Telegram channel has reported on the matter.

According to the investigation, the officers believed they could seize a resident's cryptocurrency, who they learned possessed a significant amount of digital currency. On June 18, 2026, two of the suspects ambushed the victim on a city street while the third coordinated the assault. The victim was subdued, exposed to tear gas, shot multiple times with a non-lethal weapon, handcuffed, and beaten.

The attackers compelled the victim to transfer $51,000 worth of cryptocurrency to a specified wallet. Subsequently, they demanded all of the victim's family savings. To intimidate the victim, the suspects threatened to murder him if he contacted the police or a medical facility.

The stolen funds were divided among the suspects. They have been placed under pre-trial restraint measures, facing detention with the option to post bail of UAH 3 million each. The pre-trial investigation is underway to identify any additional individuals potentially involved in the crime.
