Tesla reveals SpaceX-powered Roadster that flies and falls with style

The new car used thrusters to leap over a Cybercab, Cybertruck, Tesla Semi, Model Y, and Model 3 at a demo in Texas.

Tesla unveiled its redesigned second-generation Roadster on Thursday, showcasing a vehicle equipped with SpaceX thrusters that can fly and maneuver with style. CEO Elon Musk demonstrated the car's capabilities by propelling it up an inverted ramp, spinning it around, and landing it on the ground while also lifting it over a series of Tesla models.

The Roadster, described by Musk as "the best of the last of the human-driven cars," will hit the roads in 2028 and come in three trims: Performance, Thrust, and Rocket. The Performance trim, described as road-ready, seats two and features active aerodynamics and a suction system. The Thrust trim, race-ready, seats two and has cold-gas thrusters for rapid acceleration.

The Rocket trim, air-ready and designed for one passenger, has ten cold-gas thrusters. All trims boast a range of 300 miles and speeds exceeding 230 miles per hour. The design features an angular, Lamborghini-like aesthetic inspired by the SR-71 and F-35 fighter planes. Despite its futuristic appeal, Musk cautioned that safety is not the primary goal, suggesting that safety-conscious buyers should avoid the Roadster.
