Skills For Progress Africa Fellows recently visited the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), gaining valuable insights into Ghana's vital industrial asset. The 10 fellows, part of Skills for Progress Africa's Technical Talent for Industry Fellowship, had the opportunity to observe refinery operations and connect with experienced industry professionals.

The visit aimed to bridge the gap between education and productive careers, with a focus on practical industrial exposure and mentorship. During the tour, Managing Director of TOR, Edmond Kombat Esq., emphasized the importance of leadership and the responsibility of professionals to solve problems. He encouraged the Fellows to look beyond certificates and focus on the value and competence they can bring to the world.

Skills for Progress Africa Executive Director, Kwame Nyatuame, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating that it provided a vivid reality for the technical talent they were nurturing. Solomon Bekoe, Managing Director of ELAF Industrial Automation Limited, also highlighted the eye-opening experience for the Fellows. The visit is part of Skills for Progress Africa's commitment to developing technically excellent, industry-ready, and purpose-driven African professionals.

The Technical Talent for Industry Fellowship includes technical development, practical industry exposure, mentorship, and personal and professional growth. The Fellows may also have the chance to undertake internships at TOR, further connecting classroom-based technical learning with real-world industrial practice.
