Punjab E-Bike Scheme Distribution Date Announced

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that the provincial government will distribute 100,000 electric bikes to students, with a larger share reserved for female students. The scheme will provide two days of free driving training for those who do not know how to ride, enabling them to travel independently for education and daily activities.

The distribution is set to commence on November 5. Maryam Nawaz also confirmed that Punjab’s fully electric Green Bus service will maintain its existing Rs. 20 fare, despite rising petrol and diesel prices. Currently operating 700 buses, the provincial government aims to expand the fleet to 3,000 buses within the next six to eight months.

The Green Bus service offers free travel to women, students, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities, and includes amenities such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and CCTV cameras. The government plans to extend the service to all 148 tehsils within Punjab.
