Project helps 100 shrimp and rice firms improve workplace standards

Oxfam in Vietnam, in partnership with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), has launched a project to improve workplace standards and ESG practices for 100 shrimp and rice firms. Implemented from 2022 to 2026, the project has benefited more than 23,000 workers, with over 55% of them being women. Nearly 4,000 workers directly participated in training courses covering various topics, including workplace skills, occupational safety, and health.

The project established 10 pioneering business models and supported four businesses in piloting sustainable management practices under the ESG framework. All four completed independent ESG assessments with positive results. Additionally, more than 30 shrimp and rice cooperatives were connected with commercial partners, enhancing market access and supporting more stable livelihoods for producers.
