Probe must go beyond Obuasi SHTS into his previous schools – MP on headmaster’s alleged sexual abuse

Deputy Health Minister Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah has raised concerns about the probe into the alleged sexual abuse at Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), questioning whether the controversy is an isolated incident or if there are previous occurrences at other schools where Zakaria Abdulai, the headmaster, has worked. The MP has also criticized the school authorities and colleagues who have worked with him over the years, questioning why they did not raise concerns earlier if such incidents had happened before.

Dr Ayensu-Danquah emphasized the need to investigate whether there had been similar occurrences at all the schools Abdulai has worked in. She stressed that the investigation should not only focus on the current allegations but also examine whether any previous concerns were reported and how school authorities handled them. The Deputy Health Minister urged students to speak up whenever they witness wrongdoing, urging them to stand against any inappropriate behavior.

Her comments come as public attention focuses on the Obuasi SHTS headmaster's case, with calls for a thorough investigation to determine the facts and decide on further action.
