Obuasi SHTS Sexual Predator Is NDC Scribe

A school headmaster at Obuasi Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti Region has come under scrutiny after allegations of sexual abuse against female students. Zakaria Abdulai, the headmaster, is also a serving constituency secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and is vying for a chairmanship position within the party.

According to Manasseh Azure, an investigative correspondent for JoyNews, Abdulai learned about his political aspirations during a documentary filming in the community. Azure stated that the headmaster is expected to contest for the party's constituency chairman position at the delegates' conference, scheduled to occur before the end of the year.

The sexual abuse allegations were widely known by the community, as reported by a former NDC constituency executive, Frederick Addai. Addai mentioned that the party members tried to mediate the situation when the issue was raised. However, local and regional school officials failed to take any action despite being aware of the reports.

Manasseh Azure believes that Abdulai is leveraging his position of power to shield himself from influential individuals. The Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, issued a directive on October 13 for the Ghana Education Service to suspend Abdulai pending a thorough investigation. Additionally, Iddrisu requested the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter.

The story of Abdulai's alleged misconduct is featured in a documentary titled "Inside the Dreaded Headmaster's Bungalow."
