India secured a four-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the first Women's T20I match in a bilateral series, thanks to a stellar all-round performance by debutant Niki Prasad and veteran Deepti Sharma. Chasing a competitive 115, India's top order crumbled, with debutant Smriti Mandhana falling for a duck in the second over and Anushka Sharma getting caught at point.
The pair's 82-run partnership, however, saw India through a significant scare and secure the win in 15.4 overs. Niki Prasad, captain of India's U19 Women's T20 World Cup-winning team, scored 39 off 35 balls, while Deepti Sharma contributed 49 off 37 deliveries. Zimbabwe posted 114 for five in their chase, with Kelis Ndhlovu and Sharne Mayers making valuable contributions.
