Golden State Valkyries have the best defensive players in the league
Golden State Valkyries have put their faith in defense. It's been paying off with a Finals appearance and all-defensive selections.
The WNBA unveiled its all-defensive team selections, and three players from the Golden State Valkyries were recognized for their exceptional defensive skills. Gabby Williams, Veronica Burton, and Kiah Stokes all earned the distinction, but they attributed their success to their team and culture, rather than individual accolades.
The Valkyries have built their entire existence around defense, emphasizing it repeatedly to their players. Stokes, who led the league with a 96.0 defensive rating, expressed her excitement about the recognition, stating that it was the effort of the whole team that warranted the honor. Williams, who finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting, echoed Stokes' sentiments, emphasizing that the team's focus on defense is crucial to their success.
The Valkyries' dedication to defense has paid off, as they were the top defensive team in the WNBA, with six players ranked in the top 15 for defensive rating.
