Enam cip hasil inovasi tempatan cerminan kemajuan Malaysia, kata Akmal
Menteri Ekonomi Akmal Nasrullah Nasir tonjol enam inovasi semikonduktor buatan tempatan yang dibangunkan oleh syarikat di Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Nasir stated that six locally developed semiconductor chips embody Malaysia's progress, moving from manufacturing to creating and owning technology. Speaking at AiSEM@SELANGOR 2026, he explained that these innovations demonstrate the nation's capability to advance beyond manufacturing to inventing and acquiring technology after five decades of building a reputation as a trusted entity in the global semiconductor industry.
The six innovations hold a combined potential sales value of around RM300 million, highlighting commercial opportunities for locally manufactured semiconductor technology, he said. It is hoped that these six introduced innovations will pave the way for more successful locally commercialized technologies and strengthen Malaysia's position in the global value chain.
The event showcased SkyeChip's edge-AI processor MARS1000 for cameras, robots, and manufacturing systems; MaiStorage's aiDAPTIV+ storage solution for personal computers and AI-powered servers; SiliconX's programmable gate array for industrial and automotive applications; Infinecs' low-dropout automotive voltage regulator Maxwell; Weeroc Space's power controller for satellites and space exploration systems; and Alphaswift's flight controller for autonomous drones.
These six locally developed semiconductor innovations, created by companies within the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park, inspire the younger generation to build quality careers and create world-class technology in Malaysia. The semiconductor industry contributes significantly to the country's economy, contributing around 6% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), 26% to exports, and 40% of the approved foreign direct investment.
In the 2027 budget, Khazanah Nasional Bhd and the Employees Provident Fund (Public Pension Scheme) (KWAP) will invest RM1.2 billion to support local semiconductor companies moving to higher-value segments, and a RM100 million Strategic Investment Fund will be created by Khazanah Nasional Bhd and InvestPenang to support early-stage semiconductor and fabrication companies.
